KaliYug: End of Dharma on Earth

Hey everyone, How are u all? Today I am here with a new topic and subject to talk about. It's about the era we all live in. As we all know in Sanatan Dharm, time is divided into 4 yugs or 4 transcendental light years. The first, longest and the purest one being SatYug. After Satyug comes TretaYug which is followed by DwaparYug. And after Dwaparyug is the last, the shortest and the impurest one named KaliYug.

We all know that Lord Vishnu took several avatars to establish dharma in the three inital light years but what about Kaliyug?

Why Kaliyug is called as Kaliyug and why do people nowadays consider it as the most inauspicious year? Why it is shorter than the other yug's? Why it is the most cursed light year?

Why people consider it inauspicious to be born in KALIYUG?

:- The answer to all the above questions is from various stories that are given in our religious scriptures, vedas, puranas and upanishads.

Now I will explain you the topic briefly from 2-3 stories mentioned in "Srimad Bhagvatam."

# Once King Parikshit of Hastinapur was taking a stroll in the forests (and DwaparYug was nearing it's end) with his royal guards and some ministers, suddenly all of them wanted to drink water and rest for a while but the King was neither thirsty nor tired so he asked all of them to wait and rest at the spot they all were standing while he moves on a little further.

When he covered a few meters he saw a bull and a cow standing there in the wild forests, so he went there and asked them that, what where they doing in such a wild forest?

When he noticed both of them, he saw that the bull was not having one of his legs while the cow was having 5 legs. So Parikshit asked that what is wrong with both of yours' legs?

The bull first answered that, "Oh lord, I am the servant of the great Kaliyug standing before you. My three legs represent Hate, Violence and Jealousy while the fourth one was representing Humanity but my Lord asked me to cut down that one because he said that in Kaliyug only hate, violence and jealousy will thrive and humanity will be cut down into pieces". Now it was the turn of the cow to answer; so she said that, "Oh the learned one! I am also a servant of the great Kaliyug having 5 legs now. Initially I was also having 4 legs which represented Uproar among fellow humans, War, Brother kills Brother, Conspiracies in the same family but my lord asked me to add one more and that would be representing Adharma. This is why I have 5 legs". Parikshit was shocked to hear all this and he immediately ran from there. Now this is the first story of Kaliyug, let's move on to another:-

# Now the other story is about the birth of Kali the demon on which Kaliyug is named after. So it was at that time when Satyug was middle-aged and Sagar Manthan or Churning of the transcendental Ocean was in procession and Lord Vasuki was spilling Halahal in the Universe. So, Dev Adidev Mahadev decided to consume that poison and save the world, now when he held the poison in his hands, a few drops fell down deep into the ocean and stayed there for million of years. Everyone was unaware of this situation. One day there was some activity at the bed of the ocean and when one of the people of the Ocean King went to see what was happening, he found out that a demon named Kali was made out of those few drops of Halahal and he was born to becom e the King of the last yug of the universe, KALIYUG.

# Now the next story is about the things that are going to happen in Kaliyug:-

Once Shri Krishna was sitting with the Pandavas in the Darbar hall and suddenly Yuddhishtir asked Govind that, " Vasudev, we know what happened in the previous yugs and years but we are not aware that how Kaliyug will like be? Can you please tell all of us something about Kaliyug? How will it be? What will happen at that time? What will be the behaviour of the people living in that age?

So Govind said, "I am not going to answer that question but I want all five of you to go to the forest tomorrow morning and tell me whatever you see!"

The Pandavas were astonished upon hearing Krishna's words. But they nodded and agreed to go to the forest the next morning. Now the next morning all five of them went to the forest and they all went into different directions to look for new things.

Yuddhistir - He saw an elephant with two trunks in the forest.

Bheem - He saw a cow give birth to a calf but after that she was licking his ears so much out of affection that he started to bleed.

Arjun - He saw a bird who had "VED" carved on his body while he was eating the remains of a dead body.

Nakul - He saw a giant stone rolling down a hill which was uprooting several big trees but the moment it touched a small plant it stopped at that very place.

Sahadeva - He saw 7 wells out of which 1 well was the deepest but it was fully empty.

Now they went to Krishna and told him about their experiences. Krishna one by one explained everything to them. First he said to Yuddhistir," Dharmraj! People in Kaliyug will be two faced, they'll say something and do something. Mouth will say something and Hands will do another thing." Now he addressed Bheem by saying," Vikrodar! In Kaliyug the love of the parents towards the children will grow to such an extent that the children will lose the opportunity of their development and the family will be ruined in this fascination. If someone's son leaves home and becomes a monk then everyone will praise him but if their own son becomes a monk then that person will blurt out. The family will keep their child in the cage of their love & attachment and will destroy the development of his life."Then he explained Arjuna's view by saying, "Dhananjay! Kaliyug will have such people who will be utterly educated and knowledgeable but their Karma will be demoniac. They will always be greedy and will think of taking over someone else's property as soon as they are dead. They will be greedy for money and power and will go to any extent to achieve them." Then lastly, Nakul was given answers to his questions," Nakul! People having immense power and wealth in Kaliyug will be easily defeated but those who will purely indulge themselves in Bhakti by chanting Hari naam will surely attain salvation." Then came Sahadev's turn & Krishna told him that, " Sahadev! Kaliyug will consist of such people that they would fund on expensive gifts & grand weddings but if someone in their neighbourhood is poor and hungry then they will not give him a single penny. They would spend their money on silly things like alcohol, junk food, beauty, women but not spend a single penny to fill a hungry man's stomach.

From this story we get to know that what is going to happen in Kaliyug Shri Krishna told about it years before it started....

*If we closely read about the 4 yugs, it is found out that in Satyug there was war between two powers of the world , then in Tretayug there was war between two people of the same continent and in Dwapar Yug there was war between the brothers of the same family but in Kaliyug maybe your enemy is living with you or maybe close to you. You cannot even recognize your enemy because it maybe someone from your family or any acquaintance too.
